working on the skins

I'm back on the drums full time. I've played a lot of Bass, Lead, Piano etc in studio lately. I'm a drummer who happens to do the rest of those things. Performing live on the skins again feels right. However now I have to stretch and warm down more now LOL. Two hour non stop swinging has to be a zen thing for me now. I'm still sharp but stamina keeps me honest. 21 piece drum kit and rolling, i'm hoping to get my drum endoresments back. these sets take the crew a lot of time to send to those venues "Hint".
Working on the drums for next stop. Using lighter sticks to pop the licks with less kicks.

For my family.

POETRY: SPOKEN WORDS

"healing dance"

We've been engulfed in a dance of hate
to appease self
swam in pools of confusion to
find solace
cultivated in land of vengeance to
be at peace
And dread the harvest of sin.
We have drowned spirit of joy to
create sorrow and solitude of self
In attempt to stay king in world
of selfishness
Stepped on souls of meek and weak
brutalized heads on our way to the top
to be rewarded by nature.
Look up to the moon and sacred mountains
of the sky
Listen to the songs of sacred land
Feel the healing wind of sea
Step into the vibrations of energizing
songs of sun.
Let's dance beyond rhythm of sorrow
Lift our legs and hands in praise
of life.
Dance to the wind of drums for the
rejuvenation of souls.

Do nothing with the body but relax;
shut firm the mouth and remain silent;
empty your mind and think of nothing.
Like a hollow bamboo rest at ease with your body.
Giving not, nor taking, put your mind at rest.

Nice thought

The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself.
It is not in your environment;
it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others;
it is in yourself alone.

THE ARTIST MIDST ESSAY POSTED ON MY EBOOKS

I've completed a short two part essay that somehow became a compulsion. I tried to keep it succinct yet reflective of what I perceive as the decline of true independent art. The corporate mindset and commercialism of creativity, has turned most work into sanitized brands. Collectively artist have to take back the tools of their trade. Or else we will be jaded by offshoots of so called "reality t.v."
Both parts of my humble essay "The Artist Midst" are now online. Give it a read.

Be more and more at ease.
Be more and more here and now.
Be more and more in action, and less and less in activity.
Be more and more hollow, empty, passive.
Be more and more a watcher — indifferent, not expecting anything, not desiring anything.
Be happy with yourself as you are.

Welcomed emptiness

I'm a serious thinker. I meditate as often as possible. Some may think that to be very spiritual, others may feel that I just have an empty mind. Both are right. I'm trying to get to the point where I can be empty at will. Simply because you can't add to a full glass. If you don't add you don't empty up, nothing new gets in. So I strive to be as simple minded as possible. Doesn't lessen my intellectual clarity. Just makes me grateful to transcend the herd.

ying yang, rollin

I'm getting the flow of the music. The sheer creative stamina feels right. Downtime is a must. Too much is a bust because of creative rust. I'm at a point in life where my desire to reach yet another unnkown is intense. I have a console lit by my sleeping area. It's like the lights little kids use to keep them aware of the boogy man. If It is what I see when i'm about to drift of into that alpha sleep, i'm resolved that when I wake I have a new day I have the info I need. It's the natural ebb and flow of anything living. Ying Yang is impossible to escape. Ride the tide in whatever you pursue.
